Football is divided between those who fervently defend the Super League and those who are against it, wanting to maintain the national competitions.
Florentino Perez is part of the first group. The Real Madrid president, who are one of the clubs who want to go ahead with the project, explained the reasons as to why he wants to go ahead with the project.
"We can't allow youngsters to love football less and less because the games are less appealing", the Madrid president put forward to 'Tuttosport'.
Florentino Perez said that everyone must "think about it all together". "We've got to give youngsters, who represent football's future as well, what they expect from us", he said.
"We're working on that and I will work as hard as I can to make sure football doesn't lose it's prestige and so that it continues to be the main sport in every continent",he also said.
Florentino Perez realises that the world has changed over time: "Overthe last 20 years, a new generation has arrived and the world has changed, everything in our lives has changed, therefore football has to adapt".
This Tuesday there was a meeting between UEFA and A22 Sports, the promoter of the Super League. The latter of the two came out of the meeting positive, whereas UEFA did not.
The supranational organisation insist that creating the Super League is impossible and that those against it "are continuining to weigh the momentum down, like it has been since April 2021".
