The Premier League's financial strength has once again manifested itself with recent signings, especially when compared to other European competitions.

The Premier League has invested more money than any other competition: £240 million on signings, £50 more than the Bundesliga and £90 more than La Liga and the Serie A.

Manchester City lead the way with £80 million, Everton 50 and Liverpool 40. United, Arsenal and Chelsea have made no reinforcements yet, so the figure is expected to rise drastically from here to the closing of the transfer window.

Bearing in mind that in the present transfer season English clubs have taken on a more relaxed approach, the Premier League is still far from the rest of Europe. The Bundesliga and the Ligue 1 have tried to secure deals early on, but the other big leagues are still waiting.
