All World Cups stand out for the rivalry between the teams and the passion with which this championship is experienced in each country. Aspects such as the ball or the mascots play a major role in each match.

The concept of the mascot in a tournament is something vital and full of symbolism for any competition. The representativeness of these mascots has been something historic in football world and many of them have a special affection for us. Naranjito, Pique, Gauchito and Juanito are some of the names that have remained in the common memory of many of the World Cups that have been held to date.

But not all editions of this international competition have had a mascot. It was not until 1966, where it all began with Willie in England, the lion that represented the eighth edition of the World Cup and the first mascot of the World Cup universe.
