Lionel Messi appears to come from a different planet at times with his ability with a football, having shown on plenty of occasions just why he is considered footballing royalty. However, the diminutive Argentine never succeeded in matching this feat managed by the legendary Brazilian.

November 3 2005 will be forever remembered among the footballing fraternity as the day that Ronaldinho stunned the Bernabeu.

The Samba star ran the show as Barca recorded a historic 3-0 victory at the home of their arch-rivals.

Ronaldinho scored two of Barca's three goals that day and following his second and Barca's third, the home crowd could not help but applaud the brilliance that they were witnessing.

Such an act had only ever happened once before at the Bernabeu, with a certain Diego Armando Maradona on the receiving end. Two stars whose talent was so incredible that it transcended rivalry.

Despite having never been applauded by the Real Madrid faithful, Messi has successfully turned 'Los Blancos' into one of his favourite sides to play against, having scored more La Liga goals against Real than any other player in history and having leapfrogged the legendary Alfredo Di Stefano to become the player with the most 'Clasico' goals in history.

The Argentine is considered public enemy No 1 in the Spanish capital, particularly after holding his shirt up to the Real fans after scoring during the 2016/17 season in what has since become an iconic image.

Due to his enemy status, it appears impossible that Messi will ever match Ronaldinho's feat, making it an even more special achievement.
