The eye-watering figures behind James Rodriguez' loan deal from Real Madrid to Bayern Munich have been revealed.

Whilst the move may only be a loan deal this does not mean huge amounts of money aren't involved, with the Colombian international earning £5.9m per year in net income.

Bayern are paying two installments of £5.9m to Real Madrid in order to secure the loan deal, with a £42m line up if the German champions want to make the move permanent.

The figures, released by German publication Spiegel, show the lengths which Bayern went to in order to sign the Real Madrid outcast.

James made the move to the Bundesliga in order to reignite his promising career, but he will also be paid handsomely in the process.

His staggering £496,000 per month wages, before tax, will see him net a cool £5.9m annually.

The club will also pay the midfielder a further £230,000  bonus should he score 12 goals for Bayern this season and yet another £230,000 if he reaches 20.

In today's game it's also unsurprising that a large amount of money is also reserved for James' agent, who is none other than Jorge Mendes - the man who also represents the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho.

For his work in the deal Mendes' reportedly landed £1.8m with more payments likely if the deal becomes a permanent one.

Bayern got their season off to a great start on Friday, beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-1.

James didn't feature in the game, in which goals from Niklas Sule, Corentin Tolisso and Robert Lewandowski helped Bayern secure 3 points.
