It is not Giggs, Alves, not even Messi. Maxwell Scherrer Cabelino Andrade, or simply Maxwell, said goodbye to the game at the end of the 2016/17 season after collecting more winners medals than any other player in the history of football.
The Brazilian left-back played his last fixture in May, as PSG took on Angers in the French Cup final for Maxwell to lift yet another trophy.
Maxwell said goodbye to the game having won more titles than any other footballer in history: 37. Ryan Giggs, on the other hand, retired with 36 trophies to his name.
The Brazilian only played for five clubs, in which the triumphs never ceased. Cruizeiro, Ajax, Inter, Barcelona and PSG helped the defender reach this particular feat.
At Cruizeiro he lifted only one trophy, six at Ajax, five at Inter, while his time at Barca and PSG awarded him with the most winners medals: 10 and 15, respectively.
