Controversy in Paris. Despite PSG's 2-0 win over Lyon on Sunday evening, the performance was marred by an altercation between Edinson Cavani and Neymar.

This summer, Neymar completed a world record £198m move to PSG in order to step out of the shadow of Lionel Messi and become the undisputed star of a team aspiring to lift the Champions League.

However, what he was not expecting was to meet a stubborn strike partner in Cavani. The Uruguayan proved that he is keen to once again be the top scorer in Ligue 1 by not letting Neymar take a penalty in the win over Lyon, something that provoked a discussion between them on the pitch.

The altercation gives Unai Emery an unwanted problem, so much so that he had to warn the pair to sort out their differences and come to a "gentleman's agreement" on penalty-taking responsibilities.

All this contrasts with Neymar's position at former club Barcelona. Messi, the man whose shadow Neymar was desperate to step out of, was more than willing to let the 25-year-old take penalties and free-kicks.

The best example of this was in Barcelona's historic comeback against PSG in the Champions League last season. Messi, who scored Barca's third of the Round of 16 2nd leg tie, handed over responsibility to Neymar for an 88th minute free-kick and 91st minute penalty, both of which he scored.

It was evident that Messi had full confidence in the Brazilian superstar during their time at the Nou Camp. Now, Cavani stands between him and the star role in Paris.
