Barcelona currently hold a ten-point lead over arch-rivals Real Madrid. With some 26 games still to be played in La Liga, Real have already been forced to get the calculator out to work out if they actually have any chance of hunting down Ernesto Valverde's side.

No side has ever made up such a distance to become La Liga champion, meaning that 'Los Blancos' will make history if they manage to win the league this season. 

Not only to Real need to win both 'Clásicos' of the season, but they also need Barca to lose at least two more games and take advantage if they do. Put simply they need a miracle.

However, at the Bernabeu, there is something of a precedent: when Zinedine Zidane and co made up 11 points on Barca during the 2015/16 season. During that campaign, the Catalans had managed to build a 12-point gap between themselves and Real by the 29th gameweek.

At that point in the season, Barca could already picture themselves celebrating lifting the title. In the end though, they were made to sweat much more than they expected and had to wait until they beat Granada on the final day to claim the crown.

Zidane's side managed to make up 11 points on Luis Enrique's men, reaching 90 points for the season, agonisingly short of Barca's tally of 91.

Back in the present, Barca currently boast 34 points, with Real lagging behind on 24. Nevertheless, it remains a gap that Zidane has successfully closed before...
