Cristiano Ronaldo leapt to the defence of team-mate Karim Benzema during Saturday's big win over Real Sociedad after the French striker drew the ire of the Bernabeu faithful.

Benzema suffered a frustrating game, getting into good positions but failing to find the net. His most memorable contribution was a 90th-minute miss from six yards after being presented with a gilt-edged chance by substitute Gareth Bale.

With his goalscoring touch deserting him once again, the Real Madrid fans turned on the form Lyon man, booing him whenever he took possession of the ball.

However, fellow forward Ronaldo was not impressed by the fans voicing their frustrations and in images picked up by 'Movistar', the Portuguese could be seen wagging his finger towards the stands.

Benzema has scored just two goals in La Liga this season, but he is known to have the backing of his manager and if this incident was anything to go by, his team-mates are very much on his side as well.

Whilst Benzema failed to find the net against the Basque outfit, Ronaldo took full advantage of their defensive frailties to score a hat-trick in a seven-goal thriller.
