The Ballon d'Or awards ceremony 2017 - As it happened.

Thanks for joining us, that's all from us for tonight.

"To win the Ballon d'Or here is incredible"

Ronaldo is understandably delighted with his win. "To be in the Eiffel tower with the Ballon d'Or is an incredible sensation. I'm very happy, although it's a bit cold," the Portuguese tells the crowd.

Ronaldo takes to the stage with his son

Here's the moment Ronaldo's victory was announced:

Ronaldo wins his fifth Ballon d'Or!

It had to be! Cristiano Ronaldo takes home the award after another fine year with Real Madrid.

David Ginola is presenting the awards ceremony tonight and has been joined on stage by the original Ronaldo, will his namesake be taking home the most prestigious individual prize in football this evening?

Neymar, Messi and Ronaldo are set to battle it out

Things get interesting now as (unsurprisingly) we are left with Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar, there can be only one winner, who will it be?

In fourth place is Gianluigi Buffon

He may have endured serious disappointment with Italy recently but the veteran will have something to smile about tonight.

Luka Modric is the fifth best player in the world!

Real Madrid's domination of the list continues as the Croatian seals fifth spot in France Football's list.

6th: Sergio Ramos

The Real Madrid captain comes in a very respectable sixth, with no defender having won the award since Fabio Cannavaro in 2006.

7th: Kylian Mbappe

Another Frenchman! Mbappe enjoyed a sterling 2016/17 season with Monaco, earning himself a big-money move to PSG and he has continued in the same vein in the French capital.

8th: N'Golo Kante

Chelsea's all-action midfielder fills in eighth place in the list. Kante has become one of the first names on the team-sheet both for France and his club side in the last year.

9th: Robert Lewandowski

The powerful Pole takes his place in ninth after yet another prolific year.

10th: Harry Kane

The only English nominee joins the list at No. 10, it has been a fine 2017 for Kane, who has starred for both club and country.

12th: Isco

13th: Luis Suarez
