Ter Stegen will renew his contract with Barça, but not at any price. 'Mundo Deportivo' claims that he wants to be paid at the level of what he thinks he is, the best goalkeeper in the world. It would be his second contract improvement after the one signed in spring 2017.

At only 22, Marc-André ter Stegen landed in Barcelona, back in the 2014-15 season. Little by little, he started gaining prominence in the team until he became the undisputed goalkeeper.

At 27, the German international goalkeeper has already played a total of 223 official matches as a Barça player, conceding 206 goals, which translates into an average of 0.9 goals per game.

The German's current contract ends in 2022, which is why conversations about a possible contract renewal have come to the fore.

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', Ter Stegen wants to be paid what he thinks he is, the best goalkeeper in the world, so he expects to receive a salary according to this level.

In some statements, which were given last February, he talked about his possible renewal of the contract and he made clear that he only wants to stay in the Camp Nou.

"I have two more years left on my contract. I am very happy in Barcelona. I feel at home. My intention is to continue. We will have to see how everything evolves. There are conversations, but there is no hurry. I'm focused on the season," he explained.

That is why his agent, Gerd vom Bruch, met with Eric Abidal last Thursday to make further progress on the renewal of the contract of one of the best goalkeepers on the international scene at the moment.

Barça paid only 12 million euros to Borussia Monchengladbach for the goalkeeper. After improving his contract in the spring of 2017, the Catalans raised his buyout clause to 180 million euros. Although at the time seemed outrageous, price inflation has made it more of a normal price nowadays.

That's why, once it's clear that both the player and the club want to continue working together, the main thing is to improve his conditions, something that also involves raising his salary within the team. Ter Stegen wants to be paid at the same level as the other team's top players.
