'Sport' says Frenkie de Jong does not want to go to either Chelsea or Man Utd and does not want to accept a pay cut either. That is because he understands that he should get what was agreed in the contract. The fact the current board have said that the contract made under Bartomeu was illegal has caused more problems.

The situation between Frenkie de Jong and Barcelona leads to a new story every day. This Tuesday, information from 'Sport' indicated that there is a lot of tension between the footballer and the club. The reasons are obvious: the Dutchman does not want to go to Chelsea or Man Utd or take a pay cut and, furthermore, they are doubting the legality of the new contract he signed with Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The newspaper mentioned in the previous paragraph explains that, when the player's agents received a statement from the board speaking about his latest contract being illegal, they got angry. This badly affected talks between the two parties, talks the former Ajax man has not even been part of. He has just said that he wants to focus on football and being useful for Xavi.

At the Camp Nou, he wants either to leave or to accept a pay rise to balance the club's books. The problem is that, at the same time, Joan Laporta has made big money deals - Kounde, Lewandowski....- so it is logical that Frenkie thinks that if there is money for them, there should be for him as well

The proposal Barcelona have made based on the fact that his contract is illegal, is that he accepts the first contract he signed in 2019. Therefore, he would be at the club until 2024 instead of 2026, although they would have change the distribution of his salary. Given he will be there for two years less, they have less time to give De Jong what he is owed.
