David de Gea's Man Utd contract expires in June 2023, but it seems like he will not stay at the Premier League club. Manager Erik ten Hag asked the club not to take up the option to renew the Spaniard as he has his eye on Diogo Costa.

David De Gea's future at Man Utd is still unknown due to the fact his contract expires on 30th June 2023. Despite his large salary and his age, the club were reportedly thinking of offering the Spanish goalkeeper a new contract.

However, Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag asked the club's owner not to offer him a new contract, according to 'Sky Germany'. And that is because the Dutchman has an alternative on his radar.

Diogo Costa was at the World Cup for Portugal and his performances both for Portugal and Porto have led to Ten Hag eyeing him up. Despite De Gea, who came through the Atletico Madrid academy, still starting regularly, Man Utd are now planning to let him leave.

The now Porto goalkeeper could make the step up by moving to one of the Premier League's Big Six. It is for that reason that Ten Hag wants a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window and De Gea is not in his plans.
