Sunderland on brink of signing Evans from Reading
'Sky Sports' has reported that Sunderland are coming close to a deal with Reading to sign George Evans.
The two clubs are reportedly negotiating a figure of less than £1m, but have not yet quite come to an agreement.
A deal is expected to be reached within the next week for the 23-year-old former England U19 player.
Evans was part of the Manchester City academy, before joining the Royals in 2016.
He made one appearance for the Manchester City first team, but spent most of his time there on loan.
He spent three seasons on loan to League One clubs, Crewe, Scunthorpe and Walsall.
Evans made 33 appearances for Reading last season, but was used less this season, only playing 18 times.
