Daniel Sturridge has asked for more time to respond to a betting breach charge from the FA.

The Liverpool striker was originally given until 6pm on Tuesday to respond to the charge regarding the breach of player betting regulations.

Yet, after stressing to his club that he "categorically has never gambled on football", Sturiddge has asked for more time to formulate his response.

According to 'Sky Sports News', part of the inquiry into Sturridge's rule breach is focused on a family member placing a £10,000 bet on him moving to Inter Milan a few years ago.

The Striker would instead move to West Bromwich Albion on loan for the remainder of that season, before returning to parent club Liverpool the following summer.

The charge handed to Sturrdige relates to Rule E8(1)(a)(ii) and Rule E8(1)(b) which he has be alleged to have broken during January 2018.
