Real Madrid and Juventus are keeping a close eye on the radar as weather forecasts in Miami raise the possibility of their Club World Cup last-16 tie being suspended due to a thunderstorm. This would be the latest in a series of weather disruptions during the tournament.

The knockout meeting between the two European heavyweights is one of the standout fixtures of the round, particularly in the wake of recent exits for Inter Milan and Manchester City.

However, the build-up to the match has been clouded by concerns over adverse weather, with a thunderstorm potentially disrupting proceedings.

Forecasts suggest there is a 45% chance that storm activity could impact the Hard Rock Stadium area, triggering a possible suspension of play in line with the protocol that has been consistently applied throughout the competition.

It would mark the first time that a match involving either Real Madrid or Juventus has been interrupted by such conditions in this tournament, and also the first time Miami has faced a weather-induced stoppage during the current Club World Cup.

Real Madrid, however, have previously experienced similar interruptions. Notably, their friendly against Barcelona in August 2024 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey was halted after just 12 minutes due to the threat of lightning. Play eventually resumed over an hour later.
