On the whole, VAR has been a success during this summer's World Cup, but Spain weren't impressed as they were denied a penalty deep into extra time during their last-16 clash with Russia.
'La Roja' were left incensed after both Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique appeared to be impeded as they tried to attack Koke's free-kick from deep on the left.
However, match referee Bjorn Kuipers waved both players to their feet, something that led to an agry reaction form the Spain captain.
The decision was quickly put to VAR, which concurred with Kuipers to leave Spain bemused.
Following their penalty failings, Spain are likely to look back on the incident with a 'what if?' attitude as VAR continues to dominate the headlines.
