Víctor Font, one of the candidates to the Barca presidency, spoke to 'El Periodico'. If he ends up being elected, he wants Xavi to become the manager. He also spoke about Leo Messi, who will continue being a key man to his project and he thinks some people are "too afraid" of the Argentine.
Font wants to lead a new Barcelona project and he now has a rough plan in mind.
He is aware that, one of the main tasks will be to look for a replacement for Leo Messi. That said, he made clear to 'El Periodico' that while Messi wants to stay at the club, there will be place for him at Barca: "I'm convinced it's not at all difficult dealing with Messi. Talking to Xavi makes me reaffirm that. Messi is a normal person, he's ultracompetitive, the best in history."
Font considers that there are those that are a bit frightened of the Argentine, maybe because of what he represents, his potential and other things. "Sometimes it seems like people are too scared of Messi. You have to treat him as normally as possible. He wants to win for the club, he wants to win more Champions Leagues and between all of us we have to help him to be able to do that," he continued.
The presidential candidate would like Xavi to become the coach if he takes over. "I'm confident in his innate ability," he said.
Lastly, he made clear that he is planning to renovate the Camp Nou. "Renovation work is very urgent," Font concluded.
