Simons explains his Barca exit: 'Everyone dreams about Messi, but...'
Xavi Simons' Barcelona exit generated some disagreement in La Masia. His escape to PSG (from the hand of Mino Raiola) was controversial. Now he explains why he left Barca.
"Everyone dreams about Messi, but sometimes you have to choose another path. I decided to embark on another adventure and I think it is good for my development", Xavi Simons told the Dutch media outlet 'NOS'.
Currently called up by Netherlands u17s (days after not ruling out playing for Spain in the future), Simons spoke about his adaption to PSG and French football. He has even scored in the Youth League against Real Madrid.
At first, it was difficult because all the players were physically stronger. Now I'm used to it and I feel good", the talented midfielder commented. He is very popular on social media with more than 2 million Instagram followers.
"I know all eyes are on me. I have to concentrate on what I want to do. I want to get to the first team as quickly as possible. I am 100% sure that I am not at that level yet, that I have to work hard. In football anything can happen. You can do it like you can't do it", he added.
