The debate is already open and the controversy is more than served after what happened in the match between Barcelona and Valencia at the Camp Nou. The stomping rule in the Achilles heel was not followed through with any sort of punishment.

Barcelona beat Valencia, but the match was remembered for more than just the result. The players involved in the controversy were Lenglet and Maxi Gomez, although the Valencia player had better luck than most.

It was around the 77th minute mark when the attacker unintentionally stepped on the French defender, Lenglet's, Achilles heel, which led the Barcelona player to complain about the blow and feel some pain.

It is so, that for Luka Modric and Jorge Molina were sent off this season for the same reason, and so it was expected that Maxi Gomez received the same punishment.

However, this foul was checked by VAR, but the referee, Sanchez Martinez, did not pay any attention to this and in the end, Maxi Gomez was not shown a red card, but of course he was shown a yellow.

The decision has created a debate because the rule, which was previously fulfilled, means that fans think that Maxi Gómez should have been sent off in Barcelona-Valencia match.
