Villarreal versus Osasuna saw the referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero give a penalty for a shirt pull on Jaume Costa. It was a shirt pull similar to the one Braithwaite suffered in 'El Clasico'. This one was given by the on field official, but the VAR buzzed in as the offence took place outside the area.
Ronald Koeman and Barca were very angry on Saturday night when the Catalans were not given a spot kick for a shirt pull by Mendy on Braithwaite.
On Sunday lunchtime, Villarreal were given a penalty for a very similar shirt pull by Nacho Vidal on Jaume Costa after the Osasuna goalie Sergio Herrera had made a great save.
The VAR did not intervene to say whether the contract was enough or not, but buzzed in as the foul was just outside the box. Dani Parejo took the free-kick and Sergio Herrera made a fine save.
In a similar incident at the back end of 'El Clasico', Braithwaite went down under contact from Mendy, but the referee Jesus Gil Manzano did not give it.
