Shakhtar Donetsk levelled against Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage fixture thanks to a attacking move at breakneck spped which caught out the Madrid defence. David Alaba was especially unprepared. Alan Patrick laid the ball of to Fernando with his chest and he fired home past Courtois.

The goal to make it 1-1 in the matchday four Champions League clash came thanks to a half-volley by Fernando. Benzema had put the Spanish side in front. There was not long left until the interval when the number 99 appeared to receive a good pass by Alan Patrick and beat Courtois.

The Ukrainian side surprised the Real defence, especially David Alaba, with a rapid attack which saw the former Bayern man unable to do anything. The number 21 used his chest to link up with his teammate.

Fernando, instead of trying to complicate things, let the ball bounce and then put his right foot through it. He hit a powerful strike and despite Courtois putting his hands in the air, he had to pick the ball out of his net.

The goal was a major setback for Real Madrid, who had been, in general, better in the first half. However, they were unable to get the second goal. Shakhtar were defending well and waited for their opportunity and they took it.
