We take a look at how the Sevilla and Manchester United players fared in Wednesday night's Champions League last-16 clash between the two sides.

SEVILLA:

Goalkeeper: Sergio Rico - 6

Rarely tested by a United side that came for a point.

Right-back: Jesus Navas - 6

A solid performer out of position at right-back and gamely supported Sarabia on the overlap.

Centre-back: Gabriel Mercado - 7

A strong performance from the centre-half, Romelu Lukaku is a different proposition from any La Liga striker but Mercado did well.

Centre-back: Clement Lenglet - 6

Along with Mercado he helped deny United during their rare forays forward. Missed a good chance in the second half after meeting Banega's free-kick.

Left-back: Sergio Escudero - 6

Kept Juan Mata largely out of the game but was limited to a more defensive role due to Correa's attacking instincts.

Midfielder: Steven N'Zonzi - 7

A real physical performance in the middle of the park, the former Blackburn man put himself about well and proved good foil for Banega as the hosts ensured United couldn't get a foothold in the game. Went close late on in the first half with a flicked header.

Midfielder: Ever Banega - 7

A classy return to action for the playmaker as he sprayed the ball about nicely as Sevilla dominated in midfield despite being outnumbered.

Attacking midfielder: Pablo Sarabia - 8

A constant thorn in United's side, particularly in the second half. He was more than happy to either come inside onto his favoured left foot or go around the outside. Was unlucky that neither Muriel or Correa could convert inviting balls in.

Attacking midfielder: Franco Vazquez - 6

Worked hard but struggled to provide a spark.

Attacking midfielder: Joaquin Correa - 7

Fizzed about with menace coming in off the left flank and saw a couple of low efforts kept out by De Gea.

Striker: Luis Muriel - 7

Led the line well and chased everything. Saw a well-struck effort kept out by De Gea inside five minutes before being somehow denied from six yards on the stroke of half-time.

Subs: Pizarro (N/A), Sandro Ramirez (N/A).

MANCHESTER UNITED

Goalkeeper: David De Gea - 9

Kept United in the game with a pair of outstanding stops before half-time and proved impenetrable throughout. On this evidence there is no wonder Real Madrid are so keen to make him a part of their squad.

Right-back: Antonio Valencia - 5

Stayed put rather than launching his famed raids forward, presumably under orders from Jose and beaten a little too easily by Correa on occasion.

Centre-back: Victor Lindelof - 6

Did well despite the questions marks over his performances since his summer move. Tracked runners well and made one vital block to prevent Sevilla from getting in on the counter in the first half.

Centre-back: Chris Smalling - 6

A stead pefromance from the former Fulham man as he made sure he put his body on the line where necessary.

Left-back: Ashley Young - 5

Industrious as ever but struggled against Sarabia's trickery.

Midfielder: Nemanja Matic - 6

Sloppy in possesison at times but worked tirelessly to break up play.

Midfielder: Ander Herrera - N/A

Saw his night cut short early due to injury but had been looking to organise United before being forced off.

Midfielder: Scott McTominay - 6

A no frills performance from the youngster, who seemed to be preferred to Paul Pogba due to his discipline off the ball. Stung Sergio Rico's palms with an effort in the first.

Forward: Juan Mata - 5

Largely anonymous and part of the reason United failed to mount any sort of threat going forward.

Forward: Romelu Lukaku - 5

Starved of the ball and struggled to keep hold of it when United needed him to help ease the pressure. Grew very isolated.

Forward: Alexis Sanchez - 6

Did his best to impact the game by getting on the ball deep and embarking on a couple of dribbles but in the end only contributed to Lukaku's isolation.

Subs: Pogba (6), Rashford (7), Martial (6).
