1. Paulinho
Now at Barcelona, the Brazil international took his first steps as a professional in Lithuania with FC Vilnius.
2. Eric Dier
The Tottenham star is today one of England's brightest talents, but his professional debut came at Sporting CP in Portugal, where he moved as a youngster to develop as a player.
3. David Trezeguet
At 16 years of age, the France and Juventus legend played his first game as a professional at Club Atletico Platense in Argentina.
4. John Obi Mikel
After making headlines for Nigeria at the 2003 FIFA Under-17 World Championships, the former Chelsea man had a trial at South Africa club Ajax Cape Town, before eventually joining Lyn Fotball in Norway.
5. Brad Friedel
The American goalkeeper, who retired at the age of 40, played his first game as a professional at Galatasaray in the Turkish first division.
6. Gus Poyet
The former Sunderland boss chose French club Grenoble to launch his career as a professional.
7. Patrice Evra
The veteran left-back started his career at Marsala in 1998, a club that played in the Serie C1 in Italy.
