The Dutch national team and Arsenal goalkeeper, Sari van Veenendaal, has won the 'The Best' award for best goalkeeper in the world 2019.

The goalkeeper born in Nieuwegein (Holland) was crowned the best goalkeeper in the world at the age of 29. She was the clear favourite and this was made official at FIFA's showpiece event.

Van Veenendaal who signed for Atletico this summer from Arsenal, beat Christiane Endler (PSG) and Hedvig Lindhal (Chelsea) to the award.

The arguments in her favour are clear. She was runner up in the World Cup, and also received the Golden Glove. She only conceded 5 goals in 7 matches
