Jorge Sampaoli praised Lionel Scaloni for his work with Argentina, who were crowned as World Cup winners on Sunday. The former coach of the 'Albiceleste' emphasised the "great merit" achieved.
Former Argentina coach and current Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli congratulated the 'Albiceleste' for their victory at the World Cup in Qatar 2022 and praised Scaloni.
Sampaoli coached Argentina in the previous World Cup in Russia 2018, where they were eliminated in the last 16 by France.
The Sevilla coach said he was "happy for the Argentinian people, who are euphorically experiencing such an important situation" at the press conference ahead of his team's Copa del Rey match against Juventud Torremolinos.
Sampaoli remembered that Lionel Scaloni was his assistant at the Andalusian club and also in the Argentine national team: "He is a person who worked with us. Scaloni is a coach who has achieved something important and who has succeeded. It is a great merit for such a young coach," he concluded.
