Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has won Football Writers' Association (FWA) Player of the Year, adding another trophy to his ever-growing cabinet.

Just ten days ago, the Egyptian picked up the Players' Football Association (PFA) Player of the Year, beating Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne to the award, and his talents have now been recognised by England's journalists.

Salah becomes the first African to win the award, edging top position by a margin of less than 20 votes in a ballot of more than 400 FWA members.

De Bruyne was a close second, with the two polling 90 per cent of the votes, whilst Tottenham's Harry Kane made up the top three.

The award means that Salah becomes the sixth player in seven seasons to complete the PFA-FWA double as he continues his incredible debut season with Liverpool.
