Southampton's Charlie Austin launched a furious rant about the lack of VAR last week, after Southampton dropped crucial Premier League points. Now his club have made a joke at his expense on social media.

In the wake of Southampton's draw with Watford last weekend, striker Charlie Austin launched into a furious tirade in a post match interview about the officiating, which he claimed had 'robbed' the 'Saints' of a crucial win.

Now, after the Premier League announced that it will implement VAR in the English top flight next season, Austin's club have poked fun at him on social media.

Southampton have made light of the announcement by posting an instagram video of the striker clapping sarcastically and running around the training ground in delight.

The post has gone viral on social media; many people have applauded the club's sense of humour, particularly in light of the fact that had VAR been in use this season, they would almost certainly have picked up a valuable win last week.

South coast side Southampton sit in a precarious place in the Premier League table, 17th with only 8 points from 12 games so far this season.

Nevertheless, during this international break the club have had time to see the funny side of the bad decision that cost them last week.
