Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has rejected claims that he considered firing Ernesto Valverde following the club's shock Champions League exit at the hands of Roma.
Speaking to 'El Món' on 'Rac 1', Bartomeu gave a long interview in which he discussed Barca's season as a whole and the rumours that he considered ending Valverde's tenure at Camp Nou early.
"Will Valverde be Barcelona boss next season? Yes. No one ever doubted that he would stay on. It hadn't crossed my mind that he wouldn't continue. He wants to stay on. He has a contract," the Barca bigwig confirmed.
"We're happy with Valverde. We needed an unbeaten run. Real Madrid and the Champions League doesn't bother us, winning the double is something to be happy about," he continued.
