Ian Rush thinks that Liverpool have the best chance to win the league in almost 30 years, and need to keep pressure on the defending league champions.

The 'Reds' have not won a league title since Rush's team won the First Division title in 1990, something that has been the subject of ridicule from rival fans in recent years.

After spending big in the summer to bolster his squad, Jurgen Klopp has helped the side to an unbeaten run of 11 games in the competition and leaves them well in contention to lift the Premier League trophy for the first time.

Speaking to the 'Daily Mail', Liverpool's all-time top goalscorer Rush thinks that his former side have an excellent chance to do just that, and have to retain belief that they can beat Man City to the title.

"Last season, City weren't put under any real pressure in the Premier League. This season, Liverpool and the others at the top of the table will want to keep up with them. They have got a chance. It is important to keep City under pressure and see how they react.

"Liverpool are capable of a top two finish this season, that is realistic." Rush said.
