Ronaldo v Messi: Who has won more awards?
Cristiano Ronaldo pipped his arch rival Lionel Messi to being named FIFA's 'The Best' Men's player of 2017, but who has the edge overall?
Over the last decade, Ronaldo and Messi have been battling for supremacy on and off the pitch. On Monday night, The Real Madrid man retained his ‘The Best’ title, leading to one big question: Of the 287 accolades between them, who has won more (club and individual)?
The answer to that question would be Ronaldo, with a staggering 157 pieces of silverware.
Individual honours:
Since FIFA decided not to renew their deal with France Football to merge what is now called 'The Best' and the Ballon d'Or in 2016, Portugal's captain has won FIFA's version of the trophy two years in a row.
When it comes to the Ballon d'Or, however, Messi edges it with five victories compared to Ronaldo's four.
That is likely to change, though, when the winner is announced for this year's edition on December 6, with Ronaldo expected to equal Messi's tally.
