Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has rejected claims that star striker Moussa Dembele is set for a move away from the club this summer.

Dembele starred for the 'Hoops' last season, scoring 32 goals in 49 games in all competitions. As a result, the player is understood to be on the radar of several big European sides but Breandan Rodgers insists that the 21-year-old will not be leaving Celtic this summer.

Speaking about the speculation ahead of Celtic's Champions League qualifier against Rosenborg on Wednesday night, Rodgers said: "There's nothing in it from our perspective. He's a boy that's very calm. And like I said, a young player still developing."

"He [Moussa] was part of the plan coming in here. I felt if he progressed how we thought he'd progress and if he wanted to move at any time, it was going to be after the second year.

Celtic could have been tempted to cash in onthe first decent bid that came in for the striker, given that he cost the club nothing when he joined from Fulham last summer but the Northern Irishman said that there was no indication that a club would meet Celtic's valuation in the near future.

"I think there'll be a natural solution to it all. I think there'll be something at some point in his career here where there's an offer that, for both parties, is a sensible one," he explained.

"But it's certainly nowhere near that for us at this moment in time."

Dembele certainly impressed last season, but even his most ardent supporter would admit that there is a lot more development needed if he is to go on and play at the very highest level.
