Scottish defender Andy Robertson has warned Liverpool they must be better when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Reds head into the second leg of their last-16 tie at Anfield with a 1-0 advantage, following a narrow victory at Parc des Princes last week, thanks to Harvey Elliott's late goal and Alisson Becker's exceptional performance in goal.

Robertson, who came off the bench in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday, knows that a much tougher challenge lies ahead.

"It's going to be a tough game," Robertson said. "They showed how good they can be, an exceptional team – probably the best we've played this season. We've got the lead, which is important, but we can play better than we did last week."

He acknowledged that the team cannot rely on goalkeeper Alisson to deliver another stellar performance, adding that improvement was needed both offensively and defensively.

"We need to be better without the ball, and hopefully the crowd can help us as they always do on Champions League nights."

Robertson also praised PSG's efforts in the first leg, but stressed that Liverpool have room for improvement. He believes that with the right mentality and performance, the Reds can secure a spot in the quarter-finals
