Boca Juniors lost out to River Plate, after the latter scored once in each half to secure a 2-0 victory over their rivals.

Despite the intense rivalry between the two clubs, the match on Thursday was only the second time that Boca and River have clashed in a domestic final.

Gonzalo Martinez scored the opening goal for River Plate, 17 minutes into the first half from the penalty spot, following a foul on Ignacio Fernandez.

Boca Juniors had several opportunities to equalise on the counter-attack but River goalkeeper, Franco Armani, was on excellent form and nothing could get past him

The River forwards then took advantage on the 70-minute mark through Ignacio Scocco, scoring their second goal to crush their Buenos Aires rival's dreams of lifting the Argentine Super Cup.
