Barcelona midfielder Paulinho went 23 games without being on the losing team when he took part in Barca's 0-2 victory over Eibar on Saturday. He is the first player to achieve this feat, and it tops off what has been a remarkable comeback from the ex-Tottenham player.

Paulinho has enjoyed a huge turnaround in fortunes at Barcelona, and this record will be the icing on the cake for the Brazilian, who has had an impressive debut season so far for the Catalan club.

When Barca paid £36.5m for the midfielder, a lot of eyebrows were raised. Paulinho was viewed as a reject, a player who had failed to live up to the hype in one of Europe's major leagues and so had slunk off to China for a paycheque.

At Tottenham he had struggled to adapt to English football, joining Roberto Soldado and Nacer Chadli in the ranks of the players who failed to fill the void left by Gareth Bale when 'Spurs' splashed the €100m they had brought in from the sale of the Welshman.

However, the Brazilian has proved a lot of people wrong since his arrival from Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande. In the 23 games he has appeared in, Barcelona have won 18 (and drawn 5), with Paulinho bagging 8 goals. This makes him the club's third highest scorer this season, bested only by big-guns Leo Messi and Luis Suarez

Although he will be satisfied with his unbeaten record, what will undoubtedly please him more will be the recent news that Brazil national coach Tite plans to start him in the first World Cup game in Russia this summer. After a tough few years, everything seems to be looking up for Paulinho...
