Koeman is clear that he needs a new midfielder. If they cannot get Saul, 'AS' says the club will go for Lille's Renato Sanches.

That said, Barca do not want it to be a standard transfer. The club are planning for it to be a loan deal with a compulsory purchase clause. That is the only way they can balance the books, something which is a headache for the Catalans.
Koeman is looking for a strong midfielder, with experience, an attacking minded player and good at shooting. They were very close to signing Wijnaldum, who ended up at PSG and if Saul does not go to the Camp Nou, Sanches would be an option to have in mind.
