Despite his knee injury, Reece James could be ready for the World Cup in Qatar. The Chelsea player is working daily to be able to be ready for the World Cup for England. "I need to keep on working in the coming weeks. I'll try and not miss out," the English player said.

Reece James' situation ahead of the World Cup in Qatar has turned 180 degrees. That is because the Chelsea player has gone from being ruled out of the World Cup to having a real chance of playing in the World Cup for England.

Just 13 days ago, Chelsea confirmed the injury to James: the full-back picked up a knee injury in the clash against AC Milan and he will be out of action for at least eight weeks.

But just a few hours before the footballer himself gave comments to 'The Sun' in which he left open the possibility of being able to play for England at the World Cup.

"I need to keep working hard in the coming weeks and see where I am when the squad is revealed. I'll try and not miss out. It's a slow process and I'm in the first stage. I've done rehab for two weeks, so I'm taking it day by day," James told the newspaper.

And he added: "Chelsea's medical team have not given me a percentage with regards to my chances of going to the World Cup. It depends on how I feel when the moment comes and how stable my knee is. It's going to be very difficult. It's an injury which could take a long time and it comes at a bad time, but I'm doing everything I can and I hope it's enough. If it's not, at least I'll have tried as hard as I could."
