Real's luckless run continues

Real Madrid have been peppering the goals of their opponents with extreme regularity this season, but for one reason or another, they don't seem to be able to find the net.

Zinedine Zidane has already made history as Real Madrid boss. The Frenchman guided his side to five titles during 2017, including the club's 12th European Cup.

A large part of that success was down to the clinicality of his forwards, with Real regularly blowing teams away when the 'BBC' was in full swing.

However, this season has simply not gone to plan for 'Los Blancos'. However, the reason for their failings certainly cannot be put down to a lack of effort.

In the defeat to Villarreal on Saturday, Real had 28 shots at goal without managing to find the net, the highest number of shots from any team in a single La Liga game all season.

Many onlookers praised Real's performance following the game, but the simple fact is that they dropped three more precious points.

This profligacy is nothing new though, with Real having also had 29 shots against both Las Palmas and Real Betis in La Liga and APOEL in the Champions League.

With even Zidane unable to explain Real's failings in front of goal onlookers are left wondering if Real will ever return to their fluid best with the Frenchman at the helm.
