If Robert Lewandowski, as it seems, does not end up playing for Real Madrid, it will not have been through a lack of interest from the Spanish club. 'Bild' says that the Pole has turned down an offer from them three times.

The cited German media outlet, thanks to their information, backed up Florentino Perez's words. The Real Madrid president had apparently admitted to the club's members their repeated interest in the Bayern striker.

2013 was when he first said "no" to Real Madrid. After scoring four goals for Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid in the Champions League, Florentino wanted to get hold of Lewandowski, but he had already reached an agreement with Bayern Munich.

2015 was the next serious bid for Lewandowski. The then agents for the Pole, Cezary Kucharski and Maik Barthel, met up on various occasions with Jose Angel Sanchez, Real Madrid's director general. However, Bayern's reaction, increasing his salary to 16 million per year, scared off Madrid.

In addition, the Bavarian club refused the option which the striker's former agents were giving them. They wanted to include a clause which would help him to leave if Real Madrid put an offer in. The Pole's dream of playing for Real Madrid once again did not come off

Real Madrid's last attempt was last year, 'Bild' says. In 2018, Lewandowski tried to move and hired Pini Zahavi, the agent who helped Neymar sign for PSG. But Bayern once again resisted

This caused the German side to offer Lewandowski a new contract and another pay rise. Now it seems late for him to sign for Real Madrid, as the player himself said: "I'm not thinking of leaving the club. Retiring at Bayern Munich is an option."
