Monchi, Sevilla's sporting director, spoke about a return to the Sanchez-Pizjuan for Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic. He said that there is no deal, at least for now.

Ivan Rakitic would apparently be delighted to return to Sevilla. He has very good memories of his time at the club. In fact, if he has to leave Barca, the only option he is considering is that of returning to his old club.

Lots has been spoken about on the possibility of him returning this very summer. Monchi, in an interview with 'Muchodeporte', denied the rumours. "There's absolutely nothing between Rakitic and Sevilla, honestly," he made clear.

He did admit though that he had spoken the odd time with the Barcelona player. "I'm not going to find out anything new about Ivan Rakitic, we are friends. I've spoken once or twice with him. We care about each other's families," he pointed out.

Monchi believes that that return will not happen. "Now is not the moment. To be honest, there is absolutely nothing at all. Sevilla have nothing to do with everything that's happening at Barcelona," Monchi continued.

The sporting director also talked about Sevilla's possible signings. "We're waiting to see what happens. It doesn't mean we are doing nothing, but we are getting information to be able to draw up the different scenarios. A message of calm: we are not doing nothing, but we are acting sensibly."

He also said that Ocampos and Diego Carlos were not for sale: "Let's not put that tag on them when I've no interest in selling them. I'm not concerned about the market at all. What I can say is that Sevilla aren't negotiating anything with anybody."

Lastly, Monchi gave his opinion on how he thought the transfer market would be after COVID-19. "If the clubs see their earnings affected, the world of football will notice it. We will have to adapt the circumstances. Now, given the uncertainty there is, the right thing to do is to be sensible," Monchi concluded.
