French midfielder Adrien Rabiot has made headlines both on and off the pitch. After scoring his side's only goal at the Bernabeu, the playmaker chose not to bite his tongue and denounced his team's poor finishing against Real Madrid.
"It's easy to put eight goals past Dijon, but we need to win these matches," Rabiot stated, firing up a wounded changing room not long after the final whistle of his side's first leg last-16 tie in the Champions League.
Then, less than 24 hours after, Rabiot tried to inject some confidence into the Parisians, insisting there's still a chance of a comeback at the Parc des Princes.
"It's not over yet, we've lost the battle, but we haven't lost the war," wrote the midfielder on Instagram in a call-to-arms rallying up his side ahead of the return fixture.
Addressing to the fans, Rabiot wrote: "We need you to sing and cheer us on for 90 minutes! We need you, we need your unconditional support to pull off this feat!"
The Frenchman was not the only one calling for the support of the fans. Angel Di Maria, who didn't feature in the tie at the Bernabe and whose wife send a scathing message to manager Unai Emery, also tried to inspire the supporters. "There are still at least 90 minutes left. Anything is possible in football. With the fans and team together, we can do this."
