The Brazilian was a constant threat as his side overcame Guingamp, with Neymar recording a goal and an assist on his Ligue 1 debut.

Excitement filled the stadium in anticipation of Neymar's PSG career getting underway, though the 18,000 fans at the Stade Municipal de Roudourou had their own agenda as they cheered on their team in the hopes of causing an upset to eclipse Neymar's arrival.

The Brazilian almost got off to a dream start as he looked to provide an impressive assist for Di Maria with his very first pass, but the winger failed to take it in his stride.

The world-record £198m signing looked to link up with Edinson Cavani as he left glimpses of his talent throughout the first half, but Paris Saint-Germain were unable to break the deadlock.

Guingamp defended deeper and deeper and posed a threat on the counter-attack, as they managed to frustrate Unai Emery's team in a match that was becoming scrappier by the minute.

Marquinhos was awarded the clearest chance of the first period when Neymar put in an inviting cross at the far post and the defender powered a bullet header onto the crossbar.

The game came back to life with Cavani unleashing a fierce shot from a free kick 30 yards out, which forced Johnsson to tip it over the bar.

Guigamp's best chance came after the break, with Didot firing a sizzling shot just wide of the top corner of Areola's goal. Only a few minutes later, Paris Saint-Germain took the lead.

It was not one of the many stars on PSG's lineup who put them in front, but Ikoko. The right-back put the ball into his own net in a failed attempt to play a back pass for goalkeeper Johnsson.

The lucky break encouraged PSG to look for the kill and Cavani looked most eager to open his personal tally. A wonderful through ball from Neymar released the Uruguayan striker who calmly put the ball into the bottom corner to make it 0-2.

Emery's men began to enjoy themselves having shaken off the pressure and Cavani worked well at the byline to return the favour to Neymar. The Brazilian with a tap-in from close range to seal his team's win and and get his Ligue 1 career up and running.
