PSG midfielder Marco Verratti has never hidden his desire to play for Barcelona and even came close to doing so last summer. However, as rumours linking him with a move to the Camp Nou begin to surface once again, the French side are thought to be looking to tie him down to a new contract to put an end to the rumours once and for all.

According to 'Tuttomercado', the powers that be at PSG are keen to avoid another summer of uncertainty surrounding one of their stars and have thus proposed handing Verratti a new deal worth €11m per year.

The offer is one that appears to be too good to turn down for the Italian, who currently earns a little over half that figure (€6m per year).

In signing the new deal, Verratti would become one of the highest-paid players at the club he joined from Pescara in 2012.

The contract would be Verratti's fourth since joining the club and would run through until the summer of 2023.

In light of Barcelona's renewed interest, the Parisians are thought to be keen to push thrugh the renewal, with Manchester United also understood to be long-term admirers of the playmaker.

It seems another Marco Verratti-based transfer soap opera may well be avoided this summer, particularly with the club working under the assumption that the player is happy in Paris

"I have spoken with the club so I can have a relaxed summer because I want to stay with this team," Verratti told 'Le Parisien' back in May.
