Despite still being investigated over potential breaches of Financial Fair Play, PSG are still looking at ways to improve their squad and look set to be the latest side to contribute to the Coutinho saga.

Spanish publication 'AS' reports that Catalan giants Barcelona are set to return to the negotiating table once again in January as they look to lure the Liverpool playmaker Philipp Coutinho to Catalonia.

However, they may now face the added challenge of having to fend off rival interest from PSG.

The aformentioned source claims that PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has identified the Samba star as a play who could aid his side in their quest for European glory and is willing to pull out all the stops in order to make a deal happen.

That is unlikely to go down well at the Camp Nou, with relations already very strained between the two sides after Neymar's big-money summer move and Barca's attempts to prise Italian midfielder Marco Verratti away from the French capital.

The Parisians will be unable to bid for the player themselves in January though, owing to their precarious situation with regard to FFP, but it is thought that the club will attempt to block Barcelona's move before attempting to snap the 25-year-old up themselves at the end of the season.
