Despite spending more than £100m in this summer's transfer window, Everton are reportedly hoping to bring in Arsenal's Olivier Giroud and Bournemouth's Joshua King in January.

Everton have Oumar Niasse to thank for rescuing a 2-1 win against struggling Bournemouth on Saturday. Ronald Koeman's side looked utterly toothless until he came on in the 55th minute at Goodison Park.

The Senegal international used his pace and finishing ability to show his manager what he can do, but Koeman is still not convinced and is prepared to say goodbye to the striker in January.

That is to raise funds for a mega double deal involving Gunners striker Giroud and Bournemouth forward King.

The Toffees were linked with a move for Giroud all summer, but the Arsenal man rejected any potential deal to stay at the Emirates. Everton will now return in January and test Arsene Wenger's resolve with a £40m bid for the 30-year-old, an offer that will surely be considered by club chiefs in north London.

Koeman is also eyeing a £25m deal for King, a player he sees as an ideal replacement for Niasse. The striker is someone who can bring pace, strength and finishing ability to the squad, three much needed attributes at Everton at the moment.

The ultimate aim for the Dutch manager is to take his side into the Champions League, but can he really expect to do that with Giroud and King leading the line?
