Goalkeeper Nick Pope has signed a new three-year deal with Burnley.

The new deal also has an option to extend Pope's stay at Turf Moor by a further 12 months.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche confirmed that the player and the club have been undergoing talks for several weeks.

Pope's contract extension comes after an impressive start to his Premier League career but follows talks which started earlier this season.

The 25-year-old made his first top-flight appearances when he replaced the injured Tom Heaton in Burnley's 1-0 defeat of Crystal Palace last month.

He has gone on to start three Premier League games, keeping two further clean sheets and helping the Clarets to remain unbeaten since the second game of the season and move up to sixth place in the table.

"He had been working hard to continue his development out of the team. He is continuing that since he got into the side and we look forward to him progressing further as an important member of the squad," said Dyche

Pope told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to sign a new contract and extend my stay here," Pope told the Clarets' website.

"I've been really happy since I signed last year, so I'm really pleased to get it done.

"We are still growing as a club and I'm growing as a player. That's what I wanted to do when I first signed."
