Pope learned of World Cup inclusion on holiday
Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope didn't believe he was in the England World Cup squad until he saw the news on TV.
The 26-year-old was on holiday in Paphos, Cyprus when he got the call from the FA telling him to pack a bag for Russia.
Pope was so shocked that he didn't believe the news until he saw it again on a TV in a sports bar.
"I was in Paphos in Cyprus," he told 'Soccer AM'. "I was in disbelief obviously so I went down to a local sports bar to check it was real an hour later, as you only find out an hour before the public and everyone learn.
"So it gave me an hour to find a place with Sky Sports News!"
Pope has yet to feature for Burnley in the Premier League this season after dislocating his shoulder against Aberdeen in the Europa League in July.
He faces at least 3 more weeks on the sidelines before a return.
