Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino slammed the Video Assistant Referee system following his side's FA Cup quarter-final victory over Swansea, branding it a "nightmare".

The Londoners eased themselves into the hat for the semi-finals thanks to a brace from the impressive Christian Eriksen and a goal form Erik Lamela, but the refereeing still caused frustration for the Spurs boss.

With the visitors leading 1-0, Son Heung-Min saw a 23rd-minute goal disallowed for offside, despite a VAR review proving inconclusive.

That was the last straw for Pochettino, who aalso saw controversy over VAR take centre stage in the firth-round victory over Rochdale.

"It's a nightmare. I feel so sorry for the people trying to use that system," said Pochettino after the game.

"I think I prefer it when the ref and assistant make mistakes than to wait three or four minutes for things. But we now need to see the reality of how it is going to affect the staff on the touchline and the officials.

"It is so complex, but the worst thing for me is the effect for the fan. It is going to be a massive problem for the future. We will see what happens at the World Cup."
