Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he is "suffering" as Danny Rose and Erik Lamela still have no set return date for Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he is none the wiser as to when Spurs can expect the returns of Danny Rose and Erik Lamela to first-team contention.

Tottenham have been without left-back Danny Rose since January 31st, when the England international damaged his knee in a goalless draw against Sunderland. Erik Lamela has been missing for longer still, not playing since October 2016.

"First I am a coach and not a doctor. They know better than me. We cannot say in one week or two weeks. We are assessing them every day," Pochettino replied, asked about a return date for the pair.

"I think they are doing well but still we have to wait and we cannot give a date when they can return to the group and start training.

"Am I worried about Danny? Of course I suffer because he is our player like Lamela and different players. You always want them fit and healthy and ready to compete available for selection.

"After the long term, I think it is difficult for him because players love to play football and be fit and healthy. He is suffering a lot – for eight or nine months – since January. It is a very difficult situation.

"We all try – the staff and everyone – to help him to keep pushing and try to be motivated as possible to be fit again and be available to help the team."

Tottenham will also be without Victor Wanyama against Swansea, out with a knee injury.
