Peter Crouch has been awarded the award for the best bicycle kick in Champions League history, warding off the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mario Mandzukic and Gareth Bale.

The UEFA Champions League Twitter page held a poll for the honour of 'best overhead kick in the Champions League'. On the shortlist were 4 of the most iconic Champions League goals of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo's incredible bicycle kick against Juventus, Gareth Bale's overhead kick in the Champions League final against Liverpool last season, and Mario Mandzukic's audacious effort against Real Madrid, however, none of these could beat Crouch's effort against Galatasary for Liverpool.

Crouch did end up running away with the honour, winning over half of the vote, with 54%, but he did ask for some help...

'These players have won loads, give me a break, I could tell the kids who I beat' Crouch commented with his retweet. The former English international has over 630k followers on Twitter and it seems they helped their hero out and his goal in the 3-2 victory over Galatasary in 2006 was voted the winner.

The fact that two of these goals came in Champions League finals, with Bale's goal swinging the tie in Real Madrid's favour last season to win 3 Champions League title's in a row, shows the popularity of 'Crouchy'.

Ronaldo came 2nd with 26% of the vote, whilst Gareth Bale was 3rd with 15% and Mandzukic brought up the rear with 5% of the vote.
